Dog food: How low is too low?

I appreciate that this apparently came in good faith..lakini hapana.

This is several notches lower than the GM food debate some time back. For those of you who missed it, Yesterdays Naiton told of a New Zealand company sending 42 tons of Dog Food in aid of the starving children in Kenya.

In the eyes of many, even those who have travelled, will we forever be percieved as sub-human?

Truly disgusted...

N/B Mutua - it has nothing to do with KBS or any quality standard - it has everything to do of intention and perception.

I have come to realise that Mutua does not think! He can't see that that Kiwi woman is blatantly insulting black people/Kenyans.Ati we are dogs-ebu wait I find her...

We seem to be concerned about our own dignity... [from the comfort of my office desk as i stare at my flat screen monitor] and not the welfare of the starving children and families in the famine-striken regions.
These hungry guys don't give a rat's hoot about the kind of food they get- some have been feeding on cow shit and leaves for quite some time. Dogfood (if certified fit for consumption) will indeed be a treat
I think Mutua's position is quite correct. If the food is certified as fit for human consumption, lets send it down to the hungry kenyans. If we don't do this, many will starve to death without knowing that any such offer was made.
Well... at least the consolation will be that mine and your reputation and dignity will not have been tarnished or associated with the consumption of dog food... and we can then walk tall and snack at Java!

I agree with you wordsmiths - but truth be told:

This is yet another glimmer into the minds of many who do not quite place africans, in their incessant misfortune, on the same level. a classic case of actions speaking far far louder than words.

Me and chriso sometimes laugh at the ads for dogs huku - some of these jungus truly treat these animals like members of the family, taking them to the dentists..mara doggy daycare nini.

I agree, it is easy for us to whine comfortably from the hinges of our overflowing fridges...
But something has got to be said for human DIGNITY in the face of adversity.

What left do we have if we dont have human dignity?
